  1. The DPM must be an AZFAMA member (requirement of ASPMA).
  2. The DPM registers medical assistant(s) for the ASPMA course at the Valley of the Sun Conference (the ASPMA registration includes a field for the DPM name for tracking).
  3. The DPM pays the $550 fee per assistant to ASPMA.
  4. If the DPM also registers and attends the Valley of the Sun Conference (IN-PERSON), then AZFAMA will mail a check for $550 to the DPM upon successful registration and attendance.
  5. One rebate will be granted per DPM in attendance.

At the conclusion of the 2-day event, your assistant will be X-Ray certified and fully compliant with Arizona radiology certification requirements. Effective as of October 31, 2023, the Arizona State Board of Podiatry Examiners has approved this legal pathway for Podiatric Medical Assistant Radiology Certification. "A podiatric medical assistant working under the direct supervision of a licensed podiatric physician may take x-rays if the podiatric medical assistant is certified in radiology...by a Board-approved radiology certification program...accredited by the American Society of Podiatric Medical Assistants. The supervising licensed podiatric physician shall ensure that the podiatric medical assistant is properly trained and shall be responsible for all acts or missions of a podiatric medical assistant. A podiatric medical assistant shall not take x-rays if the podiatric medical assistant does not meet this requirement.” ASPMA is the only pathway and certifying board currently approved by the Arizona Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners.
